Wetland projects demand water-level tolerance, ecology and views at once. Aluminium has clear advantages — and clear limits.
First, freeboard. Visitors want to be close to the water, but too low affects ventilation and maintenance access; we normally keep freeboard between 250 and 350 mm.
Second, mooring. A fully floating system disturbs the water least, but exposed water needs short piles or guide chains; a mixed solution must state the load share of each in the drawings.
Third, railing and visual permeability; fourth, deck slip resistance and drainage; fifth, demountability — wetland parks often re-route their walkways a few years later.
